Anxiety and Thyroid Imbalances
ANXIETY AND THYROID IMBALANCES
The thyroid gland is situated in the front of the neck and as part of your endocrine system is responsible for regulating your metabolism and your energy levels.
An over active thyroid or hypothyroidism can create symptoms that feel a lot like anxiety. You can feel nervous and jittery, maybe notice heart palpitations, dry mouth and difficulty in relaxing down to sleep amongst other symptoms such as unusual fatigue, weight loss or weight gain.
If you have noticed any of these symptoms lately, and you feel aware that there is no real sense of stress or worry going on that could be triggering anxiety, go and see your GP who can send you for a blood test to check your thyroid function.
As well as working with hypnotherapy to help clients overcome anxiety, I can also work with you to calm the effects of a thyroid imbalance helping you to manage the symptoms and feel more comfortable. This is a complementary treatment to traditional medicine which is vital when it comes to thyroid imbalance.
Hypnotherapy does not ‘cure’ any medical issues, yet it can often help you to manage the symptoms and more so the emotional effects that a medical issue may be having upon your sense of overall wellbeing. Treating the whole person, not just the symptom is a philosophy I follow.
